Terms of Service
Effective May 1, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Ask a Mirror(the “Service”), available at askamirror.com. The Service is operated by Marcos Montero, an independent professional based in Spain. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. What the Service is
Ask a Mirror is a private, AI-assisted journaling and self-reflection tool. It helps you build a personal biography, hold reflective conversations with an AI guide, and track recurring patterns in your own writing. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use.
2. Not medical or therapeutic advice
Ask a Mirror is not a medical device, mental-health treatment, crisis service, or substitute for professional therapy, diagnosis, or care. If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact local emergency services or a qualified professional. Nothing the Service produces should be relied on as clinical advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. Your account and your passphrase
To use the Service you sign in with Google or with a magic link sent to your email. You also create an encryption passphrase that derives the key used to encrypt your content client-side, before it leaves your browser. We do not store, recover, or have access to your passphrase. If you lose it, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else. You are responsible for keeping your passphrase safe and for all activity under your account.
5. AI-generated content
Questions, summaries, and reflections shown to you are generated by third-party large language models on our behalf (see Section 6 and the Privacy Policy). AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. Use your own judgment. You are responsible for any decisions you make based on Service output.
6. Subprocessors
The Service relies on the following third-party providers, each subject to their own terms and privacy policies:
- Anthropic — large language model used to generate questions and reflections.
- Deepgram — speech-to-text transcription when you use voice input.
- Supabase — authentication and encrypted storage of your account and your encrypted documents.
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Google — sign-in (when you choose Google).
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harm yourself or others, or in violation of any law.
- Attempt to access another user’s account, data, or encryption keys.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the integrity of the Service.
- Submit content that infringes third-party rights or contains malware.
- Resell or redistribute the Service without prior written permission.
8. Payments and refunds
Paid access is offered in two plans, both in euros, processed by Stripe: a monthly subscription that renews each month until you cancel, and a one-time annual purchase that does not auto-renew. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. The Service is currently available to customers in Europe; we do not knowingly accept customers based outside Europe.
9. Intellectual property
You retain all rights to the content you create in the Service. We do not claim ownership of your biography, reflections, or recordings. The Service itself, including its name, branding, code, and design, is owned by Marcos Montero.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at marcos.mon.rod@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us or for other users. On termination, your encrypted data is deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or suitable for any purpose.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Marcos Montero shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
13. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Madrid, Spain, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will prompt you to accept the updated version inside the Service before continuing. Your continued use after acceptance constitutes agreement to the revised Terms.
